Abstract

This paper is based on a research aiming to examine the development of women entrepreneurs in Indonesia by exploring their main constraints and challenges in conducting their businesses. It has two research questions. First, how has been the development of women entrepreneurs in Indonesia? Second, what are the main barriers experienced by women to become entrepreneurs or to establish their own businesses? This is a qualitative study based on secondary data analysis and a review of key literature/case studies on women entrepreneurs or women having own business in Indonesia. The paper also provides some success stories of women entrepreneurs in Indonesia.
